Italy closing in on longest unbeaten streak in international soccer history
Italy has come a long way from failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
The Italian national soccer team not only won their first Euro Cup tournament since 1968 after defeating England in penalty shootout on Sunday, but they inched closer to having the biggest stretch of games without recording a loss in international soccer history.
The big win extended their unbeaten streak to 34 games, which puts them just one back of Spain (2007-2009) and Brazil (1993-1996) for tying the all-time record.
The Azzurri haven’t lost a game since their Nations League match against Portugal on September 10, 2018. Since then, they have won 29 games and recorded five draws.
