Canada wins gold in women’s soccer
The Canadian women’s soccer team has accomplished something they have never done in their entire history: win a gold medal at the Olympics.
Julia Grosso sealed the deal when she scored the match-clinching goal in penalty kicks to give Canada the thrilling win.
They finished with the Bronze Medal in each of the previous two Olympic Games and were heading into Tokyo as clear underdogs behind the likes of Countries such as the United States and Sweden. In true cinderella fashion, they managed to defeat their rivals south of the border in the semis and then came up clutch in penalty kicks to make Canadian soccer history!
Congrats Team Canada!
