The season from hell just got worse for the Boston Celtics.
The team has confirmed that All-Star Jaylen Brown will be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs after suffering a torn ligament in his left wrist.
He reportedly sustained the injury during the team’s 119-115 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 27, but managed to play through the pain until he sustained a separate ankle injury a few games later.
The 24-year old averaged a career-high 24.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 58 games this season.
The Celtics, who were expected to compete for the top spot in the Eastern Conference, have lost six of their last nine games and are now destined to have to compete in the play-in tournament after falling two games behind the Miami Heat for sixth place.
