Twins trade Josh Donaldson and Isiah Kiner-Falefa to Yankees, receive Gary Sánchez and Gio Urshela in return
Well this came out of nowhere!
The Minnesota have traded star third baseman Josh Donaldson and Gold Glove winning shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the New York Yankees in a big trade that could shake up the power rankings in the American League.
In return, the Twins get: power hitting catcher Gary Sánchez and veteran infielder Gio Urshela.
Donaldson, 36, is the biggest name in the trade and could be the ultimate difference maker in the middle of the Yankees’ batting order as he will be protected by the likes of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.
The three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger Award winner posted an .827 OPS, 26 homers, 26 doubles and 72 RBI in 135 games for the Twins last season.
He is entering the third season of the four-year, $92 million contract extension he signed with the Twins back in January 2020.
