Tigers add big power bat to lineup, acquire outfielder Austin Meadows from Rays
The Detroit Tigers are gearing up to be one of the most improved teams in 2022, and made a big move to shore up their lineup with the regular season just days away.
The team announced that they have acquired veteran outfielder Austin Meadows from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for infielder Isaac Paredes and a competitive balance round B pick in the 2022 MLB Draft.
Meadows, who was an MLB All-Star in 2019, posted a .234 batting average, .772 OPS, 27 homers and a career-high 106 RBI in 142 games last season.
Paredes, 22, has two years of major league experience with the Tigers in 2020 and 2021. During that span, he hit .215 with two homers and 11 RBI through 57 games.
