Robinson Cano progressing well in recovery from torn hamstring, expected back sometime in September
The New York Mets are more likely than not to get Robinson Cano back as they make a playoff push heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
The Mets provided an update on the veteran infielder’s torn hamstring, saying he is progressing well in his recovery and expected to make his return to the lineup in September.
The 36-year old, who was acquired in an offseason deal with the Seattle Mariners, hasn’t played since suffering the injury during the team’s 13-2 over the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 4.
The eight-time MLB All-Star has struggled at the plate this season, but has veteran savvy and experience that can make all the difference for a surging Mets team moving forward.
He has hit .252 with a .710 OPS, 10 homers and 32 RBI over a span of 86 games and 346 plate appearances in 2019.
