The New York Yankees are going to have to get by without their highest paid player for quite some time.

According to GM Brian Cashman, the team anticipates that All-Star slugger Giancarlo Stanton will be sidelined until the month of August after being diagnosed with a right PCL strain.

The 29-year old, who missed more than two months of action earlier this season due to a bicep injury, sustained this latest injury while attempting to slide into third base during the first inning of the Yankees’ 4-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on June 25.

Stanton, who is in his second season with the franchise and still has nine years and $259 million left on this contract after 2019, has posted a .290 batting average, .840 OPS, one homer and seven RBI in just nine games and 38 plate appearances this season.
