Brewers officially ink righty Freddy Peralta to five-year extension with two club options
The Milwaukee Brewers have faith that right-hander Freddy Peralta will develop into a quality arm for their rotation. As a result, they have locked him up to a long-term deal before his stock gets too high.
The team announced Friday that they have signed the 23-year old to a five-year, $15.5 million contract extension with club options for 2025 and 2026.
Peralta, who went undrafted and initially signed with the Seattle Mariners as an international free agent in 2013, hasn’t exactly lit up the MLB in his young career, but has shown flashes of brilliance that gives the organization hope that he will develop into something big.
He has posted a 13-7 record, 4.79 ERA, and a 1.30 WHIP in 22 games, 55 appearances and 163.1 innings over a span of two seasons.
