Blue Jays second baseman Marcus Semien wins Gold Glove Award
A prominent member of the Toronto Blue Jays took home some hardware on Sunday afternoon.
Marcus Semien, the team’s All-Star second baseman, was among the name’s mentioned as the American and National League Gold Glove Award winners were announced.
Aside from putting up MVP numbers at the plate, Semien also demonstrated his skillset in his first year as a full-time second baseman. The 31-year old, who played in all 162 games this past season, posted a .985 fielding percentage and committed just eight errors in 2021.
On top on that, he finished third in the majors with 11 defensive runs saved, first in the league with 6.3 ultimate zone rating, and second in the American League with +7 outs above average.
