Kings name Todd McLellan their new head coach
The Los Angeles Kings have found their Willie Desjardins replacement.
The team announced on Tuesday that they have hired former San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers bench boss Todd McLellan as their 29th head coach in franchise history.
The 51-year old, who was let go from his role with the Oilers on November 20, has accumulated a combined 434-282-90 record over 11 seasons as an NHL head coach.
McLellan will certainly have his work cut out for him. The Kings, who are in the midst of what will likely be a lengthy rebuild, finished second last in the NHL in 2018/19 with a 31-42-9 record. They have missed the postseason three out of the past five years after winning the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014.
