The Calgary Flames have been an absolute disaster this season, regardless of who is behind the bench. But with their new head coach at the helm, there is at least one player who has thrived under Darryl Sutter: former third overall pick Sam Bennett.

In fact, he has been so happy with his role in Sutter’s system, he officially decided to rescind his trade request that he made earlier in the season.

“I’m happy playing under Darryl…I think I’ve gotten more opportunity and I’ve been able to play my game a little bit more. When I’m playing more I’m playing better and can help the team have success. It definitely makes it fun and makes me enjoy coming to the rink when I have a big role. I’ve definitely been in a better mindset.” said Bennett.

The 24-year old, who was unhappy with his role under Geoff Ward, has recorded four goals and six assists in 37 games this season.
