Oilers to officially announce Dave Tippett as their new head coach
The Edmonton Oilers have added another piece to their puzzle in what has been a busy offseason full of major changes.
The team will formally announce the hiring of Dave Tippett as their new head coach during a scheduled news conference at 1pm/ET.
The 57-year old Saskatchewan native left his role as senior adviser’s role with Seattle NHL expansion franchise for this job. According to reports, Tippett’s deal with the Oilers is for three years.
Tippett was previously the head coach for the Dallas Stars (2002-2009) and Arizona Coyotes (2009-2017) for 14 combined seasons. During his NHL head coaching tenure, he has posted a combined 282-257-83 record and eight playoff appearances.
