It looks like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will stick around with the only NHL franchise he’s ever known.

According to reports, the Edmonton Oilers and the veteran forward have agreed to an eight-year, $41 million contract extension with an annual average value of just north of $5 million. The deal also included a no-movement clause as a reward for taking a pay cut.

“I love being an Oiler. I always have. My goal has always been to stay an Oiler,” said Nugent-Hopkins shortly after the Oilers were eliminated from the playoffs.

“It’s something I’ve taken a lot of pride in for the last 10 years.”

The 28-year old winger, who was selected first overall in the 2011 NHL Draft, has recorded 185 goals, and 293 assists over a span of 10 seasons and 656 regular season games with the franchise.
