NHL will no longer test asymptomatic players and staff for COVID-19 after All-Star break
Now that a league wide COVID-19 outbreak is behind them, the NHL has decided to make major changes to their testing policies.
The NHL has officially announced that they will no longer test fully vaccinated asymptomatic players, coaches and others staff members for COVID-19 following the All-Star Game weekend on February 4-6.
Carolina Hurricanes bench boss Rob Brind’Amour was particularly pleased with the policy changes moving forward.
“The players have done all they can, done all their vaccinations — all that stuff that they can do,” said Brind’Amour.
“I don’t know why they would be testing them, to be honest with you, if they’re asymptomatic, so I agree with this decision. I think it’s a good one.”
The league announced will also keep the isolation period for COVID-19 positive players at five days.
