Marc-Andre Fleury heading to the Wild in big Trade Deadline deal
It had been a really quiet final day before NHL Trade Deadline…until now!
The Minnesota Wild get the goalie they have coveted for much of the season, acquiring Vezina Trophy winning netminder Marc-Andre Fleury from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a conditional second round draft pick.
As part of the deal, the second rounder will become a first-round pick IF the Minnesota Wild reach the Western Conference Final this postseason Fleury records at least four wins in the first two rounds.
Fleury, who has a $7 million cap hit this season and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, has posted a 19-21-5 record, 2.95 goals-against average and .908 save percentage in 45 games this season.
In order to make room in their lineup, the Wild are working on moving back-up goalie Kaapo Kahkonen to another team prior to the conclusion of the Trade Deadline.
