Leafs trade Kasperi Kapanen to Penguins
The Toronto Maple Leafs roster overhaul is officially underway.
The team made a splash, trading young forward Kasperi Kapanen and his $3.2 million cap hit to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday.
Here’s the full breakdown of the trade:
Pittsburgh gets: RW Kasperi Kapanen, D Jesper Lindgren, and LW Pontus Aberg
Toronto gets: 2020 first round pick (15th overall), LW Evan Rodrigues, C Filip Hallander, and D David Warsofsky.
Kapanen rejoins a Penguins team that drafted him 22nd overall in the 2014 NHL Draft. He had been traded to Toronto in the deal involving Phil Kessel back in July 2015.
The 24-year old amassed 41 goals and 49 assists over a span of 202 games during his Leafs tenure.
