Leafs loan defenceman Rasmus Sandin to Sweden for World Junior Championship
Team Sweden is about to get a major boost to their defensive core for the World Juniors.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that they have loaned AHL defenceman Rasmus Sandin to Sweden for the upcoming under-20 World Junior Championship in Czech Republic from December 26 to January 5.
The 19-year old, who was selected 29th overall by the Leafs in the 2018 NHL Draft, made his NHL debut earlier this season but has spent the majority of his time with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.
Sandin recorded two assists in six games with the NHL before being sent down the minors. Since being with the Marlies, he has posted two goals, 10 assists and a minus-2 rating in 19 games.
They open up their schedule against rival Finland on December 26th at 1 p.m. ET.
