Leafs ink Morgan Rielly to lucrative eight-year contract extension
It looks like Morgan Rielly has set himself up to be a Maple Leaf for life.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Friday that they have signed the veteran defenceman to an eight-year, $60 million contract extension worth an annual average value of $7.5 million.
The 27-year old, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, was selected fifth overall by the team in the 2012 NHL Draft and has spent his entire NHL career with the organization.
Over a span of eight-plus seasons and 580 combined regular season games, Rielly has posted 59 goals, 250 assists and a minus-27 rating.
