Leafs ink d-man Travis Dermott to two-year extension
Well this was a bit unexpected.
Despite being involved in trade rumours for months, the Toronto Maple Leafs have decided to re-sign defenceman to a two-year, $3 million contract extension with an average annual value of $1.5 million.
The 24-year old Newmarket, Ontario native, who was selected 34th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft, has amassed 11 goals, 36 assists and a plus-24 rating over a span of 208 career games and four seasons.
No word yet on whether he will traded or left exposed in the upcoming NHL expansion draft.
