Kraken ink Jared McCann to lucrative five-year extension
The Seattle Kraken are signing their leading scorer to a long-term contract.
The team announced that they have signed veteran forward Jared McCann to a five-year, $25 million contract extension that will take into effect starting next season.
“That’s a lot of pressure off my shoulders…Now I can just focus on playing hockey. It’s a huge honor to get this deal and to be a part of the future” said McCann.
“I’m very happy with how it came out. I really wanted some term to be able to be in a place for a while. They were more than accommodating for that fact so it’s great.”
McCann, 25, was selected by the Kraken in this past summer’s NHL Expansion Draft, which occurred just days after he was dealt from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He has posted 21 goals, 12 assists and a 15.6 shooting percentage in 50 games this season.
