Karlsson undergoes groin surgery, expected to be ready for start of 2019/2020
As he anticipates a big pay day in less than a month, Erik Karlsson is making sure to get his body right for the pivotal part of his career.
The 29-year old defenceman underwent groin surgery last week to repair an injury dating back to January that forced him to miss 27 of the final 33 regular season games.
Karlsson, who spent this past season with the San Jose Sharks after being acquired in an offseason trade with the Ottawa Senators, posted three goals, 42 assists and a plus-6 rating in 53 games. He also recorded 16 points in 19 playoff contests, which ended in a Game 6 loss to the St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference Final.
It remains uncertain whether he wants to re-sign with the Sharks. According to reports, Senators and the Montreal Canadiens are desirable attractions for him.
