Joe Thornton back with the Sharks on a one-year deal
Well it’s official! Jumbo Joe will be back with the San Jose Sharks organization for the 2019/2020 season.
The team confirmed Friday that they have signed veteran forward Joe Thonrton to a one-year, $2 million contract.
“Joe is a generational player who seemingly blazes past an existing Hall of Famer with each game he plays. His leadership and dedication to the organization and his teammates is inspiring. He has the rare ability to make the players around him better and we’re excited to see him healthy and back wearing the Sharks crest.” said Sharks general manager Doug Wilson.
The 40-year old has spent the past fourteen seasons with the Sharks after being dealt to the organization in a trade with the Boston Bruins back in November 2005.
He has compiled 413 goals, and 1,065 assists over a span of 22 NHL seasons and 1,566 regular season games, and ranks 14th all-time in points (1478), eighth in assists.
Despite never winning the Stanley Cup, he has a lot of accolades to be proud of as his career progresses. On top of being selected to six NHL All-Star games, he was also a recipient of the Art Ross Trophy and Hart Memorial Trophy in 2006.
