Jake Muzzin ready to return from hand injury if season resumes
In some rare positive news, the Toronto Maple Leafs will have a core part of their blueline back assuming the season eventually resumes.
Veteran defenceman Jake Muzzin confirmed that he has fully recovered from his broken hand, and will be able to get back into the team’s lineup.
“The hand is feeling great, the body is feeling good. I’d say pretty much 100 percent ready to go…Been getting treatment and staying ready like everyone else.” said Muzzin.
“A couple of weeks on the ice before wouldn’t hurt to get back and get some touches and feels…Should be ready to go when called upon.”
The 31-year old had initially broken hand when he blocked a Victor Hedman shot during the team’s 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning back on February 25th. His initial timeline for recovery was set at four weeks. It has now been over two months since he sustained the injury.
Muzzin, who had signed a four-year contract just days before sustaining the injury, has posted six goals and 17 assists in 53 games this season.
