Flyers ink Sean Couturier to eight-year extension
The Philadelphia Flyers have locked up one of their core players to a long-term deal.
The team announced that they have re-signed veteran forward Sean Couturier to an eight-year, $62 million contract extension that pays him an annual average value of $7.75 million. The new contract will take into effect beginning in the 2022/23 season.
“We are excited to announce Sean’s long term extension with the Flyers today,” said Flyers president/GM Chuck Fletcher.
“As one of the premier two-way centers in the NHL, Sean has the rare talent to shut down opposing team’s top players while also contributing at a high offensive level. Throughout his 10 year career with the Flyers, he has proven to be the ultimate teammate. He carries an enormous presence inside our dressing room due to his preparation, determination and drive to win.”
The 28-year old, who was selected 8th overall in the 2011 NHL Draft, has amassed 174 goals and 269 assists over a span of 10 seasons and 692 regular season games with the franchise.
