Drew Doughty sidelined for eight weeks with knee injury
The Los Angeles Kings will be without their number 1 blue liner for a significant period of time.
The team announced that star defenceman Drew Doughty will be out for approximately eight weeks after suffering a tibial plateau contusion in his knee.
The 31-year old sustained the injury when he collided knee-to-knee with Jani Hakanpaa during the team’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars on Friday evening. Hakanpaa was assessed a game misconduct and five minute major for intentionally causing the incident.
Doughty, who is in his 14th season with the franchise, has posted one goal, six assists and a plus-2 rating in four games so far in 2021/22.
