Drew Doughty out for season after undergoing wrist surgery
The Los Angeles Kings might make their first appearance in the playoffs in four years. However, their hopes of making a deep run might’ve suffered a big blow.
The team announced that star defenceman Drew Doughty will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a lingering wrist injury.
The 32-year old has missed the past 16 games, and hasn’t played since the team’s 3-2 overtime win over the Boston Bruins on March 7. He was also out 16 games earlier in the season because of a knee contusion.
Despite only playing in 39 games, Doughty leads all Kings defenceman with 31 points on seven goals and 24 assists.
The Kings are currently third in the Pacific Division with a 38-26-10 record. They are two points up on the Vegas Golden Knights, who currently reside out of the playoffs, and have played one more game than them.
