There are some major changes happening in Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Penguins confirm that CEO David Morehouse is stepping down from his role after 16 seasons with the franchise.

The move comes just months after the Fenway Sports Group purchased the club from the previous ownership group involving Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle.

“I’m confident that the Penguins’ future is in good hands with Fenway Sports Group,” Morehouse said in a statement. “The new ownership group prioritizes winning and that has always been the philosophy of the Pittsburgh Penguins. They have experience running successful franchises and we have some of the best staff in sports already in place. Together, the legacy of the Penguins is sure to continue.”

Morehouse was initially hired as a consultant in 2004. He eventually worked his way up to Team President in 2007, and then become the CEO back in 2010.

During his time with the Penguins, the team has won three Stanley Cups, made 16 straight playoff appearances, and enjoyed a sellout streak in their home arena of 633 games from February 2007 to October 2021.
