Coyotes ink goalie Karel Vejmelka to three-year extension
The Arizona Coyotes decided to take care of some business within the franchise while the rest of the focus is on the Trade Deadline.
The team announced that they have signed starting goalie Karel Vejmelka to a three-year contract extension that will reportedly net him an average annual value of $2.5-$3 million, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
The 25-year old Czech native, who is a rookie, has been one of the few bright spots for the rebuilding Coyotes team this season.
Vejmelka, who was selected 145th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2015 NHL Draft, has posted a 10-23-1 record, .905 save percentage, and a 3.35 goals-against average through 36 games so far in 2021/22.
The Coyotes are expecting to busy today, unloading more of their veteran players to contenders in exchange for future draft picks that will help them down the road when they are finally ready to compete in the Western Conference.
