Coyotes acquire Taylor Hall from Devils in massive trade
It’s official: Taylor Hall is heading to the west coast.
The New Jersey Devils have confirmed that they traded the 28-year old All-Star forward (retain 50% of his remaining $6 million salary) and AHL centre Blake Speers to the Arizona Coyotes.
In return, they will receive prospects Kevin Bahl, Nate Schnarr, and Nick Merkley along with a 2020 protected first-round pick that will move to 2021 if it somehow ends up in the top three of next year’s Draft, and a conditional 2020 third-round pick.
Hall is more than happy to be joining a team that is poised to make a deep playoff push.
“It’s not every day that you get to jump that many slots in the standings overnight” said Hall, who is leaving a franchise that has the second worst record in the league to a team that is currently first place in the Pacific Division.
“They’ve got young studs up front, a lot of good defencemen, and two goalies who have played unbelievable this season…Those are the things you need to be a contender and that’s what the Coyotes look like.”
has posted six goals, 19 assists and a minus-11 rating in 25 games so far this season.
