A new GM, a new head coach and a potential roster overhaul has a lot of Edmonton Oilers fans excited about their future, and ready to get about all the terrible hockey they’ve played over a span of nearly 15 years.
But it’s not just the fans that looking forward to the future, it’s also Oilers captain Connor McDavid. The two-time Art Ross Trophy winner is pumped up about what lies ahead for the franchise.
“Everyone in the League wants to play in the playoffs; I am no different,” said McDavid during an event for Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities in Toronto.
“I’m dying to play in the playoffs. Dying to bring a little success back to Edmonton. I think the fans deserve it, the city deserves it. … It’s been a long stretch of not-good hockey so we have to work hard for it and dying to get back into the playoffs.”
The 22-year old, who will be entering his 5th season, made the playoffs just once so far in his NHL career.
He has compiled 128 goals, 244 assists and a plus-49 rating over a span of 287 regular season games, and nine points in 13 career playoff games.
