Canadiens trade forward Tyler Toffoli to Flames for prospects and picks
The Montreal Canadiens have officially begun the teardown.
The team announced that they have traded veteran forward Tyler Toffoli to the Calgary Flames in exchange for eight-year NHL veteran centre Tyler Pitlick, prospect forward Emil Heineman top-10 protected 2022 first-round pick, and a 2024 fifth-round draft pick.
Toffoli has posted nine goals and 17 points in 37 games for the Canadiens this season. He is in the second season of a four-year, $17 million contract with a cap hit of $4.25 million that will keep signed through 2023/24.
The 29-year old will provide the Flames with some much-needed secondary scoring as they head towards the final stretch of the season.
