Canadiens prospect Cole Caufield will return to college for another season

The Montreal Canadiens are have decided to be patient with one of their top prospects.

The team announced Wednesday that forward Cole Caufield will be returning to play in the NCAA for another season in 2020/2021.

“This additional year in the NCAA will benefit Cole and will allow him to continue developing his skills within the Badgers’ environment. Cole is an important part of the Montreal Canadiens’ future and we will continue to follow his development with interest” said Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin.

The 19-year old American, who was selected 15th overall by the Habs in the 2019 NHL Draft, compiled 19 goals and 17 assists in 36 games with the Wisconsin Badgers this past season, which was his freshman campaign.
