Andrew Shaw retires from hockey due to concussion issues
At the young age of 29, Andrew Shaw is forced to hang up the skates for good due to the linger effects on multiple concussions.
The Chicago Blackhawks forward has made his retirement official after nine-plus seasons in the NHL.
“I am extremely proud of what I accomplished in my career, and I want to make it clear; I would not change anything about it. I won two Stanley Cups, made lifelong friends – and some enemies, too – and will cherish those memories for the rest of my life,” said Shaw.
Shaw has amassed 116 goals, 131 assists, 573 penalty minutes and a plus-24 rating over a span of 544 career regular season games split between the Montreal Canadians and Blackhawks.
He also won two Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks in 2013 and 2015.
