One of the Denver Broncos’ key linebackers is expected to be out for an extended period of time.
The team announced that star outside linebacker Bradley Chubb will undergo ankle surgery to remove a bone spur in his left ankle. There is no timetable for his return, but the team anticipates that he will be able to return late into the 2021 campaign.
He sustained the injury during the first half of the Broncos’ 23-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Chubb is particularly upset about not contributing to the team’s early success.
I know these guys are doing everything they can to keep that win streak going,” said Chubb.
“I just wish I could be a part of it. But I know I’m going to be back on the back end of [the season] and making that playoff push. I’m excited about that.”
The 25-year old, who was selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2020, has amassed 124 combined tackles and 20.5 sacks over a span of 35 career NFL games.
